The Customs House has four highly unique private event spaces suitable for an intimate get-together with friends, formal dinners, workshops or weddings
Bookings for up to 42 people seated, 50 people standing.
The original Courtroom features an exquisitely high ceiling with opulent lighting, polished timber floors, roaring open fire, harbour views, and a staffed bar. Guests will make a grand entrance into this breathtaking space via the seafront. The space will accommodate one long table seating 18 people, or round tables will seat up to 42 people – 36 in the courtroom with an additional 6 in the adjacent Magistrates Office, which offers a second smaller area for lounging or intimate dining (max 6 people seated). Use of kitchen and bathroom facilities is included.

A door within the courtroom opens onto a maze of courtyards surrounded by rustic stone walls. Partly roofed in sections, this picturesque area with its character window overlooking the harbour serves as an alluring ‘overflow’ for courtroom functions that require some additional space or focal points.

Enjoy brunch, a long lunch or dinner party in the original exercise yard for the inmates. This cosy open-air space with festoon lighting strung overhead is situated alongside the kitchen, offering an intimate gourmet experience with your chosen caterer.
This fully paved courtyard bordered by manicured hedges and fragrant roses will suit a larger crowd. Sheltered from the coastal sea breezes by the magnificent Customs House building, it has direct kitchen access and enough space to fit an open-air soiree or marquee.
Please note that portable bathrooms or toilets will need to be hired at the guest’s expense, as the Custom House’s historic bathroom facilities will not cope with large crowds.
